The Prattville YMCA is participating in the Birdies for Charity Campaign during this year’s Navistar LPGA Classic set for September 25 – 28, 2008 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in
This is a new fundraiser where pledges are made based on the number of birdies (1 stroke under par) made during the tournament, Thursday through Sunday.
Participation is simple...you make a pledge, one cent ($0.01) or more, per birdie and at the end of the tournament the total birdies made, multiplied by your pledge, would equal your total pledged/donated amount that goes directly to The Prattville YMCA. You may also make a one-time donation as well (minimum of $10).
There were 1301 birdies made during last year's tournament.... so a pledge of .01 cent x 1301 birdies = $13.01 pledge. A .05 cent pledge would only be $65.05. A .10 cent pledge would be $130.10. You get the idea.
There is also a “Guess the Birdies Contest” and the grand prize is a 3 day, 2 night stay at any Trail Resort. Also, the charity that raises the most money will receive an additional $1,000 from the tournament.

WELLNESS BRANCH - This 4,560 square foot building will be equipped with Men's and Ladies Locker Rooms, Nursery with limited hours, Free Weights, Cardio machines, Resistance machines and the new Gravity machines. There will be no aerobic classes at this facility.
This branch is under construction and will be opening soon.

Our T.O. McDowell Cardio Center now has state-of-the-art treadmills, bicycles and ellipticals. These machines feature cardio theater TVs that can accomodate your Ipod, MP3 or DVD. Each machine also has fans built in for your own personal comfort. Bring your own earplugs or purchase them at the Member Services Desk. There are a total of 14 treadmills, 10 bicycles, and 10 ellipticals. We are the 1st gym in the state of Alabama to have cardio theaters on all the machines. These new machines were provided by four companies: Cybex, Pre-Cor, Life Fitness and Star Trac.

CARDIO KIDS
We have an addition at the Fitness Branch that will be the answer to the epidemic of childhood obesity in our nation. We are now providing kids cardio equipment that consists of 18 pieces made by International Youth Fitness. These machines are made for children ages 7 - 12.

The Prattville YMCA celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2003. The Prattville Y began in an old building with two borrowed offices. Today the YMCA has 4 facilities and more importantly served over 16,000 individuals last year with 11,893 of those being Y MEMBERS.
The Prattville YMCA is an organization controlled by 2 volunteer Boards and has a staff of 9 professional directors and over 340 full and part time employees. The Prattville YMCA has a current annual budget of $3.5 million and all income is used for its activities and operation in
